March 2024 · 7 minute read

Since starting his career in 1998, Nick Cannon has worked as an actor, comedian, and TV host. More recently, the host of The Masked Singer has become more known for all of his children. It doesn't seem that a month passes when Cannon doesn't announce he is soon to be a father.

"I'm so excited about all my kids," he told People in May. "Constantly, from every aspect of it. From them getting citizen of the month awards in the first grade to the birth of the new ones. Every day I just wake up excited as a father."

As of July 2023, it does not appear that Nick Cannon is in any hurry to have any more babies. After having fathered 12 children, even Cannon admits his "hands are full." Does this mean that more babies in the future are out of the question? Absolutely not. Anything is possible with Cannon and his polyamorous lifestyle.

8 Why Does Nick Cannon Have So Many Children?

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Cannon answered the questions on everyone's lips, why does he have so many kids with so many women?

"The idea that a man should have one woman…we shouldn’t have anything," Cannon explained. "I have no ownership over this person. It’s about what exchange we can create together. So, I’ve never really subscribed to that mentality. I don’t want ownership over anybody. I don’t have ownership over any of the mothers. We created a beautiful entity..."

He went on to say, "Those women, all women, are the ones that open themselves up and say 'I would like to allow this man in my world. And I will birth this child.' It ain’t my decision. I’m following suit. Every woman that I deal with or dealt with, they know how I feel."

He also told Howard Stern that he doesn't believe in condoms because "[he] might die in the morning."

Nick Cannon was married to Mariah Carey between 2008 and 2016. Together they had twins Monroe and Moroccan Scott.

The pair met in 2005 at the Teen Choice Awards and married in 2008. "We'll forever be family," the former America's Got Talent host said. "We're there for our children, and are making them the number one priority and understanding that they're loved and can have an amazing holiday."

The pair were rumored to have split due to issues in their professional life affecting their personal life.

"They are in a great place and a real source of support for one another — plus a prime example of what co-parents should be," a source told Us Weekly in November 2016.

Nick Cannon and Brittany Bell got together in 2015. The two were on and off for a while, and she gave birth to their son while they were supposedly “on a break” in 2017. But that did not change the affection Cannon had for Bell.

"She has taught me so much about parenting, psychology, spirituality, love and just life in general," Cannon explained. "She didn't want a baby shower and needed NOTHING! All she desired was PRAYER from her authentic Loved Ones!"

5 Nick Cannon And Abby De La Rosa

Abby De La Rosa is the mother of twins born June 14, 2021. Those babies are Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir. She also gave birth to Cannon's twelfth child, Beautiful Zeppelin, on November 11, 2022. She is a broadcast professional and an international DJ, according to her Instagram bio.

The timeline of her meeting Cannon is a little unclear, although they were spotted holding hands in November 2020. But De La Rosa is proud of the way she and Cannon brought their babies into the world.

"I hope my kids can eventually do it their way, whatever that may be in whatever capacity that is," De La Rosa explained. "To do it their way, not the way that the world wants them to do … to do it their way the way mom and dad did."

4 Alyssa Scott And Nick Cannon's Bond

Alyssa Scott was a model who appeared on Cannon's music game show Wild 'n Out.

She gave birth on June 23, 2021 to Zen, who was Cannon's fourth child in less than 12 months. On December 7, 2021, it was sadly announced that Zen Cannon died at only five months old.

Cannon revealed the news on his FOX talk show. He said, "Over the weekend, I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus…brain cancer... I didn’t know how I was going to handle today, but I just really wanted to grieve with my family and people who love me."

Scott announced in October 2022 that she was pregnant and later confirmed that Cannon is the father. That baby was a little girl, born on December 14, 2022. Her name is Halo Marie.

"I had a bunch of friends and they were all going to Wild 'N Out to watch the show," she told E! News about how she got her start on the long-running VH1 comedy.

"And Dave Osokow, we call him the celebrity babysitter. He's like everyone's best friend and I knew him from the club days. He was like, 'I want to introduce you to Nick and take you to the show.' I had never been to something like that and I went to the show that night and then met Nick. Maybe a year or so later, I started at Wild 'N Out, so I actually didn't start right away."

2 Nick Cannon And LaNisha Cole

LaNisha Cole welcomed Cannon's ninth child, Onyx Ice Cole, on Sept. 14, 2022. Onyx was born just nine days before Rise Messiah.

You may recognize Cole for her eight seasons as a rotating model on the daily game show The Price Is Right in both the Bob Barker and Drew Carey eras.

Cannon also praised Cole as "one of the most guileless, peaceful and non-confrontational kind souls I've ever witnessed" who "only deserves to revel in this moment of blissful joy of motherhood."

1 Will Nick Cannon Have More Children?

Cannon has mentioned celibacy and vasectomy multiple times, but after these comments, another woman announces her pregnancy.

“My therapist says I should be celibate,” Cannon told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m not sitting out here planning it.” He revealed in the same interview that none of his children were "accidents."

“Trust me, there’s a lot of people that I could’ve gotten pregnant that I didn’t,” he continued. “The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant."

Cannon concluded, "I come from a big family, I have several siblings, being raised in an unorthodox family by my grandparents at times, I've experienced such a wide range of upbringing that I have such a love and passion for kids and family. I want a big family too. The Lord has blessed me with what I asked, but ask and you shall receive."

Now that Cannon has fathered 12 babies, he may be looking to slow things down a little bit.

"God decides when we're done, but I believe I definitely got my hands full," Cannon explained. "And I'm so focused. I'm locked in. But when I'm 85, you never know. I might."

Time will tell if Cannon will be expanding his family further. But for now, anyway, he appears to have everything with his babies all under control.
